Lads. Lasses.
Howdy.
It took me some time to come up with this "field" report on Spawn Spogz Slammers and it will take little to appreciate why.

You all probably know about the 2 series of Spawn Spogz (1993 Eclipse, 1995 Canada Games). You might also know that in the 1995 series, a series of chase slammers was introduced.

A slammer is basically a plastic based Spog that will overpower the card board ones.

These slammers came in different colors and for 8 different characters :

Colors - GREEN, GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE, RED
Characters - Spawn, Clown, Violator, Overtkill, Medieval Spawn, Angela, Spawn Orb, Spawn Logo.

SO basically, when I first started collecting these, 8x5 = 40 Slammers were all I was looking for.

WRONG ! And here is where it gest sticky and dirty.

These slammers are speckled, i.e. there is a pattern imprinted as a background. The speckle is not the same for all of them. I have identified 4 different types of "speckling" :

LARGE SPECKLE
DSC01172

SMALL SPECKLE
DSC01173

SMALL LINE SPECKLE
DSC01174

FLAT (or DOTTED) SPECKLE
DSC01175

So from the 40 I had to assemble we moved immediately in the realm of the asbsurd and obscene : 40x4 = 160 !!!

Well, believe it or not this is not all. It gets more intricate, but in the end easier. Not all the colors have actually been released in each speckle. Here is the run down based on statistics based on the hundreds of Spogz blisters and packs that I have opened in the last 2 years :

LARGE SPECKLE - Red, Green, Silver, Gold = 32

SMALL SPECKLE - Silver, Red = 16

SMALL LINE SPECKLE - Silver, Bronze, Gold = 24

FLAT (or DOTTED) SPECKLE - Green, Red = 16

The total is now gone back to 32+16+24+16 = 88 ! Still a lot, but better than 160 nonetheless !

Now the bit I dislike the most. After opening hundreds and trading the rest, I am still missing 5 of them :

SILVER SMALL SPECKLE VIOLATOR
RED FLAT (or DOTTED) OVERTKILL and VIOLATOR
GOLD LARGE SPECKLE OVERTKILL and SPAWN ORB

So to wrap it up, to all the Spawn Spogz Slammers owners with dibs out there ... would you mind opening that bag and see if you have any I am looking for ?

Also if anybody knows of other speckles, colors, combinations or such, please let me know, but I think I got it nailed as far as those matters are concerned.

Then if you want there is *** story about the cards coming with these Spogz series (1995). Ever noticed in the back that the Spawn characters heads are both looking left or right ? If you so thought you needed x cards to have them all, you have to multiply that number by 2 now ...

But that is another story.

Hope you all enjoyed this moment of madness. More Slammer sets pictures to follow...

Definite iinsanity - but then again, remembering what your attic looks like, I think you fit the bill quite well!

I picked up one of the Spogz sets from eBay a couple of years ago, and they look very cool, but after reading this update, I am glad I really didn't get into them.

With my anal retentive obsessive compulsive collecting habit, I don't think I could survive.
